Day 5014 August 2026

more speed and VMG with favorable conditions, more boats on AIS, and more excited friends and families

The last 24 hours we knocked out 56 nautical miles from DTF!!! Less than 240 nm to go! This was the second fastest day from this journey (earlier on we had a 89 nm day!). Wind went from side to behind us, and we also picked up some currents from the side and behind). Sun and rain seem to compete with each other. To be fair, I usually don’t mind raining, but this crossing we had 42 days out of 49 days of cloudy/rainy days, so far. I like sunshines!

Turning on my Chartplotter, to my surprise, I saw 10 boats around us within 10 nms. Due to high waves, we can only see 2. Most are fishing boats. I can smell land but still 240 nm out. I guess we’ll not see land until 3 days later.

Getting more messages from friends and families, I feel everyone is so excited for us. Thank you. We are very happy and grateful. Though we are not there yet, we want to send hugs and kisses!!!

I have received a collection of questions about our journey. I’ll make a few videos to hopefully answer them. Otherwise, I’d be happy to help arrange a few late summer parties!

A group of high school students from LA volunteered to collect my daily FB posts to make a digital book. Once it’s done, I’ll post a link to share. This group of kids have organized a club to help rare diseases patients. They are amazing.
